Celia A. O’Brien is a performer, collaborator, director, photographer, and writer.

Based in Colorado Springs, CO, Celia is currently writing a new musical and working as a freelance actor and director.

Celia hails from Washington, D.C., where the shows she grew up watching at the Kennedy Center, the Shakespeare Theatre Company, the Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, Ford's, and many more made her want to be a part of their world. She’s been performing in plays, musicals, and operas since age 11, but decided to pursue her passion more seriously about halfway through her undergrad at Colorado College - dabbling a little bit in opera along the way.

In 2021 she completed her Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This course helped her hone her performance skills, as well as awakened her to other passions like directing and writing. In the last year, she debuted as a director with Jane Martin’s Vital Signs, a selection of women’s monologues, assistant directed a production of Sweet Charity, and directed the Doric language one-act Peggy Aifter Ned, by Debi Pirie, as part of Framework Theatre’s “____after____.”

At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Celia wrapped up her Masters in Performing degree with two final projects, playing Amy in Stephen Sondheim’s Company (and as an understudy for April), and rehearsing various songs and scenes for the final showcase in September. In previous terms, she worked on company scenes - selected numbers and excerpts from various shows to be privately shared with RCS instructors and peers. She learned intense tap choreography for the title number of Anything Goes, and played Cinderella in Into the Woods, which helped her learn and grow as an actor and director.
